1. Rocky (1976)
Starting off strong! This classic sports drama chronicles the underdog story of Rocky Balboa, an Italian-American journeyman southpaw boxer who is given the seemingly impossible task of fighting heavyweight boxing world champion, Apollo Creed.
This feel-good film (and— at times— tearjerker with an iconic soundtrack) stars Sylvester Stallone in the role that made him a household name along with Carl Weathers, Burgess Meredith, Burt Young, and Talia Shire, and is always worth a stream, especially if you haven’t seen it yet!

2. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story (2022)
If you want to watch a more recent film and love murder mysteries, this might just be the perfect pick for you. With an ensemble cast (Daniel Craig, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson and more) and epic plot with countless shocking twists-and-turns, this whodunnit flick also serves as the standalone sequel to the 2019 film Knives Out. Craig reprises his previous role as master detective Benoit Blanc, who has a new case to solve centered around around tech billionaire Miles Bron and his eccentric close friends.

3. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
This iconic crime film often tops director Quentin Tarantino’s ‘best of’ lists and keeps you on the edge of your seat with its nonlinear storytelling, pop culture references and action. Starring Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, this movie centers around diamond thieves who conduct a heist of a jewelry store that doesn’t go as planned (hint: it goes terribly wrong!) If that doesn’t intrigue you enough, it is also often dubbed a timeless classic independent and cult film.

4. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022)
This latest and most daring take on the classic fairytale is acclaimed by critics for many reasons, from legendary director Guillermo del Toro’s poignant, heartrending story to its stunning animated visuals. With a stellar voice cast composed of actors like Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz and more, it also stands out among other Pinocchio adaptations.
In this version, del Toro captures Gepetto’s grief after losing his son Carlo during World War I as his inspiration to create the wooden toy that comes to life that we are all familiar with. He also includes other dark and tragic elements of history that Pinocchio lives amidst, adding to the deep and layered story.

5. Minority Report (2002)
Sci-fi fans unite! This dystopian, 1984-esque action film revolves around the fictional Precrime (a specific police department) that apprehends criminals with the help of foreknowledge provided by three physics dubbed “precogs.”
The gripping, thrilling and suspenseful movie stars Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, and more, and is also often deemed one of Steven Spielberg’s best. The incredible visual effects and complex plot make it worth a rewatch if you haven’t seen it in a while, and definitely worth a try if you’ve yet to see it!

6. Parenthood (1989)
We’re topping off our list with another great, star-studded classic, and the enduring family comedy-drama flick. Parenthood stars Steve Martin as the patriarch of a dysfunctional, hilarious and ultimately lovable family, with memorable individual members who all have trials and tribulations of their own. Martin plays a perfectionist father who relatably struggles with raising his children, and feeling responsible for their challenges in life.
Of course, it’s not just his children who add to this stress, as his sister and her kids also add to the best and worst moments of the family’s lives. The movie also stars comedy veterans Rick Moranis, Dianne Weist and Mary Steenburgen as well as a young Keanu Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix! You’ll walk away from it knowing that nothing matters more than family.
