“Armor Wars”, the new Marvel movie, is about to start filming: find out the details

Over the years, Marvel has taken it upon themselves to give each of their characters their own project where they talk about the origin story of their heroes. However, one of the ones that has taken the longest to reach the screen is the production based on War Machine, Iron Man’s eternal companion. Tony Stark’s films were the first of the UCM and it will be more than 15 years after a movie starring Don Cheadle hits the big screen

Armor Wars it is Cheadle’s first solo work as a superhero. The project is finally taking shape and it has been announced that the filming of the feature film is about to start. Originally this project would be a miniseries for Disney+, but it was later decided that due to budget issues, it would become a movie. The anticipated production is about to enter pre-production.

It was announced that the film will begin filming on April 3, 2023 on location in Atlanta, Georgia, and production will take about four months, to conclude on August 4, 2023. Now, Agatha: Coven of Chaos Filming is also taking place at the same location and after a short break for the holidays, the crew will return to set on January 17. Other projects that will also be developed in that US state will be thunderbolts Y Captain America: New World Order. However, his filming schedule has not yet been revealed.

Armor Wars it was billed as a movie centering on Tony Stark’s misuse of technology. Kevin Feige is producing alongside Louis D’Esposito. So far Don Cheadle remains the only actor confirmed to appear in the film. Don will reprise his role from the MCU as Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, aka War Machine. The feature film will be based on a script written by Yassir Lester, but currently, Marvel Studios has not detailed the name of who will be the director.

The character’s last appearance in the Marvel universe was in the Disney+ series, Falcon and the Winter Soldierand will have a participation in the next series secret invasionwhich will premiere in the spring of 2023. In a recent interview with G.Q. , the actor talked about his process within the Marvel universe and anticipated what fans can expect about the expected project. “I think with each successive film, he steps out of Tony’s shadow more and more and becomes his own person, but I still think we haven’t really figured out who he is and I really dug into that, so that’s what this project is for.”

Cheadle weighed in on the production’s shift from a TV show to a feature film: “It was going to be a series, now we’re going to do it as a movie. So I’m looking forward to it.” Recalling his journey with Marvel, the actor noted that it’s been over a decade now and “it’s crazy that from then until now, we’ve been doing it for so long and it’s still expanding and growing. These universes keep coming together and introducing different characters.” When speaking about the production of the film, he announced that: “I have not seen any script, I do not know where it is headed, but I am excited by its potential.”

Armor Wars it will be based on the 1987 and 1988 Iron Man comic series written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton. The film’s release date has not yet been announced. It is also yet to be revealed if it will be part of the UCM in its Phase 5 or Phase 6. Currently, the list of films of the current stage includes includes Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawhich will be released on February 17, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Captain America: New World Order, thunderbolts, Blade Y Deadpool 3.
