The protagonist of the film is the koala Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) a theatrical businessman who, on the verge of bankruptcy, comes up with an idea to save his theater. In love with music, he organizes an open contest and the most varied fauna -they are all animals- shows up to win it. Each of the selected characters has a story. They are beings who have been forgotten, who have failed or believe that life owes them something. Relationship problems, family problems, parent-child problems, shyness or clumsiness, each one has a tone and style. But absolutely everything, everything, is an excuse for a song.

There is some drama, of course, not everything is an animated musical comedy. Moon’s plan seems perfect, but along the way there will be all kinds of problems, including debts that put the protagonist between a rock and a hard place. The most successful part of the film is in the first 30 minutes and, of course, in the final half hour, where the show unfolds in all its splendor. Even for those who don’t enjoy a family movie like this, the soundtrack does the main job.
Having the budget for such a repertoire allows each character to have the song that fits their personality and story. From Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift, from Dolly Parton to Lady Gaga. The list is huge and they are all absolute hits. The original voices are not far behind. Matthew McConaughey is joined by Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll, Garth Jennings, Nick Offerman, among others. Whoever can see it in the version with subtitles will enjoy it much more. Without any metaphor, it is a movie to sing from beginning to end.
