2022 was a great year for brendan fraser. After a time away from the screens and with mostly secondary roles, the actor had the chance to return to the big leagues with The Whalethe drama directed by Darren Aronofsky that positions him as one of the favorites to win the Oscar for Best Actor.

He was even genuinely excited to learn that several of those present had never seen the movies before.
Directed by Stephen Sommers, The Mummy Y the mummy returns, became huge box office hits and cult films. Although critics were divided as to its acceptance, commercially it was a complete success. The first installment grossed more than $415 million from a budget of $80 million.
In addition to the first two installments, the franchise featured a prequel, The scorpion kingwhich starred Dwayne Johnson, and an animated series called The Mummy: The Animated Series. The sequel was released in 2008. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which despite having been another box office success, received completely negative reviews. As if that were not enough, Rachel Weisz did not return for the role of Evelyn, which was played by Maria Bello.

In 2017, Universal made the decision to relaunch the franchise. The feature film was titled The Mummy and featured Tom Cruise in the lead. Although it managed to be a box office success, the acceptance by critics and fans was totally negative. Since then, fans have been asking for a fourth installment of the franchise led by Fraser and to bring back the character of Rick O’Connell. Although the actor has expressed his interest in returning to the saga, as long as the story is correct.
For now, Fraser is now enjoying the success and acclaim that has come with The Whale, the film in which he stars alongside Sadie Sink, based on a play of the same name. In Latin America it can be enjoyed from February 9 in Mexico, on March 9 in Chile and on March 10 in Argentina.
